Synod elects General Church Board
Paul Argyle and Charmaine Harch have been elected for the first time to the LCA’s top governing body – the renamed General Church Board (GCB) – by the General Convention of Synod in Sydney today.
Joining Ms Harch and Mr Argyle as fellow lay members on the former General Church Council (GCC) are Mel Zerner, Tim Wiebusch, Faye Schmidt and Peter Zweck. Mr Argyle is a Lutheran Church of New Zealand Council of Synod member and Chair of the LCNZ’s Trust Board, while Ms Harch is School Council Chair at Good News Lutheran School at Middle Park in Queensland.
New South Wales Bishop James Haak was elected as the pastor delegate to GCB, joining LCA Bishop John Henderson and Assistant Bishop Dr Andrew Pfeiffer, who are members by virtue of their roles.
Former GCC members Pastor Greg Priebbenow, Jill Hobden, Michael Stolz and Volker Hopfmueller did not nominate for re-election.
